ABOUT

You are invited to attend the services of the Riverbend church of Christ!  When considering a visit to a new place of worship, one may be inquisitive or even apprehensive about walking into new surroundings and meeting new people.  This invitation will also seek to answer some questions that you may have about the church at Riverbend.

WHat makes Riverbend Different From Other Churches?

The Riverbend church of Christ is not a denomination.  What you will find at Riverbend is a group of individuals who only desire to wear the name of Christ!  We are not identified as Baptists, Methodists, Catholics, or any other religious designation; we are simply Christians and Christians alone.

Furthermore, we believe the Bible to be God’s will for mankind to know and love, and we strive to handle it with the proper respect of which it deserves.  Our God has given His Word to be our guide (Psalm 119:105), and we reliantly seek to follow after the instruction of its everlasting truth!

WHAT should i expect when i visit riverbend?

Serving People  -  When you visit, you will find a welcoming congregation of the Lord’s people.  It is our prayer that we will properly convey to you the love of Jesus Christ upon your visit.

Sound Doctrine  -  Paul exhorted the early church to speak that which is sound doctrine (Titus 2:1).  The church at Riverbend is interested in following after the simple New Testament pattern in all walks of life.  We seek to follow after the doctrine of Christ and His apostles (2 John 1:9; Acts 2:42).  Questions such as “What must I do to be saved?” and “What is God’s will for my life?” are answered using the Word of God alone.

Scriptural Worship  -  Since the church in the first century has been established, God has authorized various outlets for man to offer Him praise.  The Riverbend church of Christ follows the simple New Testament pattern of Christian worship.  Each Lord’s Day at Riverbend, we worship God by:

1)   Praying—As a congregation, we pray to God the Father (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18; James 5:16).

2) Singing—When one sings to God, he or she must sing from the heart.  At Riverbend, you will find the music which is offered as praise to God to be solely from the heart (Colossians 3:16-17).

3) Observance of the Lord’s Supper—We honor the death of our savior, Jesus Christ, by remembering Him in observance of the Lord’s Supper every Lord’s Day (1 Corinthians 11:23-29).

4) Giving—Every first day of the week our members obey the command to give back of our means to the Lord (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).

5) Gospel Preaching—A gospel sermon will be presented which is based upon the perfect Word of God (Acts 20:7; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).

WHY SHould I Visit?

Your visit to the Riverbend church of Christ could be your first step to a better life!  The apostle Paul once wrote, “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.” (1 Timothy 1:12-15).At one time in Paul’s life, he was very far from living the life of a Christian.  In fact, Paul once sought to imprison Christians and was even seeking to put them to death.  The Lord, however, had purpose for his life.  The Lord would offer unto Paul His mercy, grace, and marvelous salvation.  Paul became a follower of Christ when he obeyed the call to “arise and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16).Paul lived from that day forth as a new creature with a new purpose.  The life of Paul is just one of many examples which illuminates the life-changing ability of God’s grace!  His mercy is ever a blessing to the faithful!  His salvation is greater than any can comprehend!  Why not make the decision today to visit the Riverbend church of Christ and begin a new walk with your God! Jesus died upon the cross for you (John 3:16).  He loves you, and He wants you to have a newfound purpose in His grace, mercy, and salvation.  He wants to change your life!  Won’t you please seek out the Lord’s purpose for your life?
